Gnomes! Memories with Friends!

Hello all,

Well, you've already met three of the Gnome Bros. -- Gnorris, Gned, and Gniles.

I'd like to introduce you to their youngest brother -- STEVE!

Steve is a bit of the outcast because he's so shy, but he makes friends surprisingly easily as you can see below:

And while he was unaware, I zoomed in on him having a talk with his best friend, Sally Snail!

Steve and Sally make quite the pair, don't they!

I'm happy you've kept with me as I introduced one of my favorite families to you. Keep on the lookout for these guys to make appearances throughout the coming year! :)

Gnomes! You Gnome Me So Well!

Hello all,

Have you grown tired of the Gnome Bros. yet? I hope not, because we still have two more to be introduced!

You've already met Gnorris and Gned. Now, meet their younger brother, Gniles. Now, because Gniles is a Gno-Gnonsense type gnome, he insisted his card be Gnon-imposing *shrug*

Here you go:

He has an ego much larger than him, so he also demanded a close-up:

Gnomes! Gnome One Else!

Hello all,

Well, yesterday you had the pleasure of meeting the eldest of the Gnome Bros., Gnorris.

Now, I'd like to introduce you to the second oldest... Gned.

Like Gnorris, Gned likes to work in the garden; unlike his older brother, however, Gned likes to garden for flowers, not those yucky mushrooms!  :)

As you can see, Gned is a bit shy, but I was able to get a close-up of him (to feature some of his sparkly flowers!)

So, you've met half of the Gnome clan! Tune in tomorrow to meet the wacky brother!

Hello all,

I finally got around to breaking open my "You Gnome Me" stamp set (from My Favorite Things) and practice my Copic coloring.

As you can see, I still need mucho practice! :)

I stamped all the little cute gnomes, so you can expect GNOME projects for the next few entries.

Here's Gnorris Gnome looking to farm some mushrooms!

Twice the Wishes Birthday Cake!

Hello all,

Well, I finally got a chance to play with July's card kit, Twice the Wishes today. When I first saw the kit, I thought how fun it would be to make an interactive birthday cake!

It wasn't TOO hard to construct, although I have a feeling any future endeavors with this set will be easier now that I know what to expect. :)

Here's the card I made:

And here's the card with the top tab pulled up:

Too challenged? No! Two challenges! :) MFTWSC290 and CTD402

Hello all,

Sometimes, in a crafter's life, the moons align in such a way that things go right. So. Very. Right.

These are one of those times! :)

I decided I wanted to try my hand at combining TWO challenges. It's okay if you want to re-read that. I said *ahem* TWO challenges!

These, my dear friends, are those challenges (you only need to click on the images to take you there!):

Click above image to take you to the challenge!

and

Click above image to take you to the challenge!
Now, you may be asking, "But Ted...why two challenges? Have you lost your mind?!" Au contraire, mon amis! I loved the colors that Barbara Anders chose for the Color Throwdown, and the sketch from the My Favorite Things challenge blog spoke to me. Not in the "I hear voices" type speaking... but like a muse shouting in my ear at the top of her lungs!  :)

Here's what I came up with:

Now, I normally don't show close-up of my coloring, because... let's face it... I don't like it. But for some reason, I was quite proud of how these came out. :) (As I said, it's the aligning stars thing!)

and his buddy:

Well, there you have it. Two challenges in one blog post.

I think it's safe to say that I can shout along with Leonardo...

My Favorite Things Summer Camp Day 5 - Background Bonanza

Hello all,

The day you all have been waiting for! (And by "you all" I mean "I" LOL) My fifth, and last product for Camp Create! Want to learn more? Click on this image:

Click image to go to camp!

Now, this day's technique was creating a multiple-stamped background...so it was right up my alley. I LOVE creating backgrounds!

Here's what I came up with:

I just used the Modern Blooms stamp set from My Favorite Things to focus on the leaves and small dot elements. I then grabbed a Micron and circled each dot...why? I don't know.... it seemed right at the time! ;)

Here's a close-up of the sentiment as I used my newest acquisition from MFT -- Wonky Stitched Oval STAX.

I hope you like this. I love the sentiment (from MFT's Cheerful Blessing)...and will be sent to a friend who may need to know how much I appreciate them! :)

Here's my fifth, and final badge:

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Modern Blooms, Cheerful Blessing (MFT)
Dies: Wonky Stitched Oval STAX (MFT)
Paper: Ripe Raspberry, Cement Gray (both MFT); White Linen, True Black (both PTI)
Ink: Gumdrop Green, Elf Green, Ripe Raspberry (all MFT); Onyx Black (Versafine)
Other: Orchid Rhinestones (Queen & Co.); Micron pen

My Favorite Things Summer Camp Day 4 - Magnificent Masking

Hello all,

Well, I'm almost at the finish line! :) Here is my entry for Day Four of MFT's Camp Create

Click image to take you to the camp!
In this session, we were challenged to do some masking. :)

Here's what I came up with:

Okay, yes. That flower is a left-over from my project yesterday! I had made more than I needed, so Id didn't want to toss it. Nothing like recycling our extra embellishments, right? ;) I'm not really sure I love the sentiment double-stamped like that, but what's done is done. :)

To make the leaves, I die-cut Layered Leaves (MFT) from some masking paper (Eclipse, I think it is?) and then just stamped the sentiment from Birthday Bears over and over again using the mask. :)

Here's a close-up of my flower with masked leaves:

And, because I was such a good camper, I'm going to take my badge and put it right about here:

Well, that's one way I can "get the boot"!  ;)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Flashy Florals, Make A Wish, Birthday Bears (all MFT)
Dies: Layered Leaves (MFT)
Paper: Rustic Cream, Stamper's Select (both PTI)
Ink: Cherry Crisp, Orange Fizz (both MFT); Sahara Sand (SU!); Onyx Black (Versafine)
Other: Scan-N-Cut (Brother); Micron pen; Sequins

My Favorite Things Summer Camp Day 2 - Coloring on Kraft

Hello all,

Okay, I'm working like a little bee on trying to catch up for My Favorite Things' Camp Create! :)

Here is Day 2 - Coloring on Kraft

Click this image to take you to their blog post!
Here's my entry...it's um....different?

Yeah, I'm with you...I can't make out what this card is supposed to be! LOL

I wanted a dull background so the panel would stand out. I got MFT's Distressed Patterns stamp set and stamped tone on tone with Cement Gray on Cement Gray paper. Then I looked at it and thought..."Hey! Why not trace around each 'splatter' with a Micron pen." And so here you have it:

Doesn't it look like something out of a crazy-world atlas?! Island chains and everything!

Anyway, I didn't add a sentiment because... well, frankly... I had no idea what this card will be used for! Ha!  :)

In any case, I'm claiming my badge, dagnabbit!

Two badges down...three to go! Phew! :)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Funky Flowers, Distressed Patterns (both MFT)
Dies: None!
Paper: Classic Kraft, Stamper's Select (both PTI); Cement Gray (MFT)
Ink: Versamark; Cement Gray (MFT)
Other: White embossing powder (Filigree); Colored pencils (Prismacolor); Micron pens

Here's my take on the challenge:

Hehe, okay, I know I'm somewhat cheating by having that wood plank embossed background as the sections of the sketch. Creative liberty we shall call it!

Here's a close-up of said background:

It's a fun card, don't you think! :)

My Favorite Things Summer Camp Day 1 - Fantastic Foiling!

Hello all,

Seeing as I'm a fairly new customer of My Favorite Things, I'm excited to take part in my first summer camp with them. :) Want to learn more? Click the image below:

Day One's task (to earn a nifty badge!) was to use foiling in your project. Here's my take on it.

Sure, it's a lot of purple... but purple is for grape, purple is for royalty, purple is for large, scary dinosaurs that loves kids too much. Okay, scratch that one! :)

Here's the badge I earned all on my lonesome!

Should I sew it on my denim jacket?! :)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Make A Wish (MFT)
Dies: Make A Wish (MFT)
Paper: Wal-mart White; Boysenberry, Eggplant (both MFT); Vellum cardstock; Luxe Gold Adhesive Paper (PTI)
Ink: Versamark
Other: Gold embossing powder (Ranger); Clear embossing powder (WOW)
