I have ALWAYS loved the look of line frames on cards and Nichole Heady, one of the owners of PTI has it down to an perfection. This is why I was extremely happy when she did the tutorial on how to make these for her weekly Make it Monday series. You can read about this
here.
I just so happen to have a few fine print Micron pens (by Sakura) so I was glad I had at least the tools. Now, the technique, on the other hand... well that has yet to be seen! ;)

As you can see, I wanted to try some masking as well as the frame. It wasn't too hard to do; I just added strips of paper below the frame and to the left. I then just taped them down with removable tape so they wouldn't shift while I stamped. :)
Here's a close-up of the bottom left corner:

And I knew I wanted to have a green as the color's complement, but I didn't want a bright green, but more of a "vintage green". Thus "Old Olive" made its appearance. Here's the sentiment:

I can tell you that now that I know how to do this, I'm going to be doing it a lot more. I love the look especially, as Nichole stated in her video, for clean and simple (CAS) cards.
Thanks for looking and/or commenting!

Great card, Ted!
I have to agree...
this technique is perfect for CAS cards...
and I think I just did my very first one! :)
It was hard fighting the urge to add ribbon...
a button...
anything!
But great colors...
and your masking is fabby!
Looks great!
Oh Ted, Nichole is gonna love this one! The way you outlined the sentiment at the top is perfection. I really love this one.
Ted this is awesome! You definitely have the whole border thing down to a fine art now. Wasn't Nichole's tutorial great? Now I just have to see if I can find myself one of those pens she uses! Hmmmm what's the bet THAT'S a challenge here in Oz! lol

As always, such a great combo of green and purple! Your masking came out nice and clean and I think you nailed the challenge. I'll try to be brave enough to try it this week, my hand is not so steady :)
beautiful result
very nice! I think you nailed the challenge!
great card
This is such a lovely, CAS card, Ted! I love how you used the doilies and incorporated the masking so they are "resting" in the corner of the frame. Thanks for sharing!
Ted your card turned out great. Nice idea with the masking. I like the line edge as well , I just needed the better pen for mine, it helps to have the correct tools. I like the way you broke up the line for the word hello. Take care.
Fantastic layout and color scheme.
Great card Ted. Your hand drawn line looks fabulous and I love the masked look.
I love your card. Great idea masking the corner doily, and I love how the line breaks for "hello."
Wonderful card Ted! Great layout of stamped images.

Awesome Ted! The frame really makes your card spectacular!
Nice job Ted. You made it look so easy and yes clean and simple. A card that would be a joy to recieve.

I think you did a really good job on this one, Ted. I need to take another look at this tut...
Gorgeous! The colour combo, the layout and the lines - perfection!
Great color combo - what a beautiful card! I do love this technique, but unfortunately, I don't think to use it as often as I should. Less is certainly more! What beauty - thanks for sharing, and for the inspiration to re-visit a neglected technique!
Really nice card Ted. I love those colours together, good job on the masking.
Awesome card, Ted. You are a GREAT student!
