Make it Monday #12 - Papertrey Ink - Line Frames

I have ALWAYS loved the look of line frames on cards and Nichole Heady, one of the owners of PTI has it down to an perfection. This is why I was extremely happy when she did the tutorial on how to make these for her weekly Make it Monday series. You can read about this here.

I just so happen to have a few fine print Micron pens (by Sakura) so I was glad I had at least the tools. Now, the technique, on the other hand... well that has yet to be seen! ;)

Here's my card:

As you can see, I wanted to try some masking as well as the frame. It wasn't too hard to do; I just added strips of paper below the frame and to the left. I then just taped them down with removable tape so they wouldn't shift while I stamped.  :)

Here's a close-up of the bottom left corner:

And I knew I wanted to have a green as the color's complement, but I didn't want a bright green, but more of a "vintage green". Thus "Old Olive" made its appearance. Here's the sentiment:

I can tell you that now that I know how to do this, I'm going to be doing it a lot more. I love the look especially, as Nichole stated in her video, for clean and simple (CAS) cards.

Thanks for looking and/or commenting!

Great card, Ted!
I have to agree...
this technique is perfect for CAS cards...
and I think I just did my very first one! :)
It was hard fighting the urge to add ribbon...
a button...
anything!
But great colors...
and your masking is fabby!

Ted this is awesome! You definitely have the whole border thing down to a fine art now. Wasn't Nichole's tutorial great? Now I just have to see if I can find myself one of those pens she uses! Hmmmm what's the bet THAT'S a challenge here in Oz! lol

As always, such a great combo of green and purple! Your masking came out nice and clean and I think you nailed the challenge. I'll try to be brave enough to try it this week, my hand is not so steady :)

This is such a lovely, CAS card, Ted! I love how you used the doilies and incorporated the masking so they are "resting" in the corner of the frame. Thanks for sharing!

Ted your card turned out great. Nice idea with the masking. I like the line edge as well , I just needed the better pen for mine, it helps to have the correct tools. I like the way you broke up the line for the word hello. Take care.

Great color combo - what a beautiful card! I do love this technique, but unfortunately, I don't think to use it as often as I should. Less is certainly more! What beauty - thanks for sharing, and for the inspiration to re-visit a neglected technique!
