Showcasing Mom #1 - Happy Birthday

It's no secret that my crafting partner in crime is my mom. She's so supportive and I just love that I'm able to make memories with her... memories we'll both treasure. Sometimes we laugh with each other, sometimes we growl with each other LOL.

Imagine my delight/surprise when she made her last card and said, "Go ahead and show this to the girls." By "the girls", she means my "sisters" on the PTI forum.

Well, I went one step further and am showing it to the world! :) I'm also proud of her creativity in how she handled the ribbons, stitching, and hat pins. I can't wait for you to see this!  :)

Here's a close-up of the stamp she chose at our local LSS:

And a close-up of the birthday sentiment (from a recent freebie of PTI's Nichole Heady's) along with a close-up of the hat pin:

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my mom's creativity! She's so hard on herself and yet I think she's a fantastic crafter. :)

By the way, my mom's name is Marie.  :)

Thanks for looking and/or commenting!

Oh its beautiful! The blue just reminds me of the wonderful sunny skies outside my window today. The bird is as sweet as can be, lovely stamp choice! And I really like the offset of the circle sentiment near the circle holding the bird. Just lovely.

Ted! How FUN you craft with your mom! I craft with mine too. It's nice isn't it. My mom doesn't do paper. She does jewelry. I stamp random things and she makes them wearable. Good job on the card mom! It would make anyones birthday brighter!

Wow Ted, please tell Mom Marie that she has a great eye for design and color. The blues she chose are so calming to the eye. And I've never seen hat pins used like that but I'm going to keep it in mind for the future.

Hi Ted, Nice to meet you. I found your blog from Curt's World. I love your cards. I just retired from teaching first grade 22 years here in WI. I love to go to teachers blogs. Isn't making cards so much fun. I think that is why I retired. LOL

Just simply lovely Marie. Your stamp choice is beautiful and very complimentaty with the offsetting circle shapes. The bright (I believe white) matting between the two color layers really ties the sentiment tag into the overall design. I would love to see more of your work here if Ted is willing :)

Monica K. said...

You did a lovely job on this card, Marie! :) I love how you placed the hat pin and the ribbon. And I really like the stamped background and the colors you chose!

I hope we get to see many more cards from you!! Ted put #1 in the title, so it seems like maybe this is the first in a series of your cards? :)

With Ted always mentioning that you two craft together, it's about time you show something off! Marie, this a beautiful card! The spring-y blue and flower/bird stamp is such a wonderful reprieve from the dreariness that Chicago has been under lately. Great layout with the symmetric ribbon and offset sentiment against the focal image. You make sure that Ted shares more of your creations!

Amy said...
