Well, Papertrey Ink (PTI) has come up with a new little program and I think I'm pretty psyched about it! :) Basically, each Monday, Nichole or one of her PTI peeps will post a video to inspire us, her customers and friends. Read more about it here.
Now, Erin Lincoln created a video with such a neat idea. You basically get a sentiment (or sentiments/phrases RELATED to that sentiment) and have variations of it on your card. Loving that idea...and wondering why I hadn't thought of that before! :) Here's her video:
How cool is that!
Well, I wanted to do something "outside my box"... and since I was so tempted to do a "Get Well" or "Happy Birthday" or, like Erin, a "Thank you"... I thought I'd create a "Congratulations" card because, you know... I'm crazy like that. ;) (Yes, I know... how often will I need a "Congrats" card? That's topic for another post!)
Anyway, I'm fairly pleased with how it turned out:
(as always, you can click on the photo to see a larger view)
I know, I know...nothing fancy... but it's the dahlia (from PTI's Delightful Dahlia) of which I'm quite proud. Here's a close-up:
I'm not sure if you can make it out (you may have to enlarge it), but I embossed the flower with black Filigree EP! (You can tell by the tell-tale signs of the little black dots. Please try to ignore those. :( I was so tempted to Photoshop them out, but there's a certain integrity I must preserve!) I then used Copics to color the flower. :)
I wanted to follow Erin's suggestion of "always keep three" (one I'll use time and again!) so I used the smaller dahlia image (from the same set) to adorn the rest of the card's face. Also, keeping with the "rule of three", I added these little puppies:
I was originally going to place a bow, but I felt that may make the bottom look too "heavy" (know what I mean?) I opted for these Lavender Pearls (from Queen & Co.)
Here's a close-up of the sentiment (I used SIX stamp sets (all PTI) for these! That's some type of record!):
Seeing as I didn't use the Stampamajig, I think I lucked out! :)
Here's the card again:
At first, I thought, "Ugh... the flower is off the edge... it won't fit in an A2 card!" but then I thought, "Who cares? I'm happy with this card... I can put it in a regular envelope or just keep it! :)" then I thought "I want some chocolate." (Yes, my mind actually works that way. Fear me.)
Instead of listing the stamp sets below, I want to use this space (they're all from Papertrey Ink): Delightful Dahlia; Enjoy the Ride; Big & Bold Wishes; Scattered Showers; Communique Curve Sentiments; Up, Up, & Away Sentiments.
Thanks for looking and/or commenting!

Gorgeous card, Ted! Love that dalia -- beautifully colored!
Ted, your card is beautiful. I love your coloring of the dahlia. So very pretty! I think the embossing helps to intensify the image better.
Looks great, Ted! I love that the dahlia hangs off the edge!
Great job, Ted!
This is a beautiful, and very well balanced card! Great work!
Love your card, Ted! Love the colors and the flower is gorgeous. Infact, I am currently making a card using congratulations sentiment too but with many other coordinating sentiments. So won't be the same as yours.
Great work as always :)
I like this a lot Ted. The thing that strikes me the most, and you didn't mention was the ticket punch edging on the layers. They were a really nice touch on this card. The copic coloring was pretty darn good too. Very nice job on this.
What a fabulous card! I love it, that big Dahlia is just sooo pretty. I loooove purple. And I love this new concept by PTI. Made me want to pull all my stamps out immediately.
Ted this is TOTALLY awesome and you have every right to be pleased with it! That Dahlia is the perfect accent to your card!

Very nicely done, Ted! Purple is my fav color.
Great job. Love your flower. Thanks for the tip on always using 3's I almost forgot that one.
Just lovely!
Hi! : I've been having the same trouble with my embossing... (stray little flecks). Someone suggested an anti-static pad or a powder tool but Ive been unable to find either locally... does anyone know if that will help?
Nice job with the coloring, Ted. I also really like that you did a congrats card - something different, ya know!? Good job!
This turned out great!
Oh, Ted, this is really lovely!
Ted, this card turned out just awesome!!! I love your coloring and your "use of 3's" as mentioned in Erin's video. Just love all of those tips! Great job on this challenge!
Beautiful! Your coloring is fabulous! This challenge didn't flow for me with several attempts. Maybe the next one;)
Ted, this card is AMAZING. It's SO pretty and I love how you did the large dahlia.
Most delightful! I have actually done this before, but your placement of the sentiments turned out much better than mine did! Love it! :O)

Perfect take on the challenge, Ted! Using the pearls instead of the bow was a very wise choice ;)
This is a fabulous Congrats card, Ted! I think you should send it to yourself cause you really followed all of Erin's tips to perfection :o) I happen to love the large flower off the card look too.
This is gorgeous, Ted! You deserve some chocolate after creating this beauty! :)
This is a wonderful card Ted! The dahlia just pops off the page with the embossing and coloring. Gorgeous! I really like your color choices too.
Great job on this Ted. I like that dahlia stamp and you used it well. Black dots. . . .hmmmmmm. . .I don't see any black dots. . . .LOL You are too funny. Really like the ticket punched corners. Best, Curt
