Happily Ever Challenged #14 - A Tribute to Saint Valentine

It's fitting that the number of this HEC is FOURTEEN, because we're going to honor good ol' Saint Valentine himself (who, legend has it... was executed on February 14).

Now, before you get all sappy and excited to get out your pink and purple papers, just hold on a pea-pickin' minute, cowboy (or cowgirl)! I want to describe the challenge for you, okay? :)

You see... legend also has it that Saint Valentine, on the night before he was to be executed, hand-wrote a note to the daughter of the jailer, whom he befriended and had healed days before. The note, written by his very hand, was signed, "From your Valentine."

*cue sappy music from some Lifetime movie special*

So... you ask what is the challenge?

Well, you're going to create a Valentine for somebody special in your life. And it's an EASY challenge, really. You can use ANY color, ANY embellishments, ANY images, etc.

Just one stipulation:

The sentiment (which IS required on the front of the card) must be done in YOUR OWN HANDWRITING.

Yes, yes... I know. "I don't like my handwriting!" Well, do you think "V" after hearing the news he was to be beheaded said, "Hmm.... I hope that 'l' doesn't look too much like an 'e'." No... he wrote from the heart.

So will you. :)

Yes, the inside sentiment (which is ALSO required) will be in your handwriting as well. :)

So break out those Bic pens and get to work, you Romeo (or Juliet), you!  :)

Oh...and Curt... you have to participate!  :P

Here are the usual guidelines:

1. You will post a photo of your project on your blog or gallery.
2. You will then need to copy the URL of the BLOG POST (not your blog, but the actual post where you're featuring the project).
3. Add the URL and your NAME to the INLINKS below. :)
4. In your blog post, please add a link to this post and direct others to this post so that they may participate!
5. The deadline is Friday, February 25, 2011 by around 3:00 PM PST.
6. I will choose a random number/winner then and post it.
7. The winner will have until Friday, March 4 to email me at happilyevercrafter at gmail dot com. If I don't receive an email by then, I'll re-draw a number and so on.
8. Only one entry per person, please. :)

As always, you can possibly win:
A TEN-DOLLAR GIFT CERTIFICATE TO PAPERTREYINK.COM!  :)

Thanks for looking and/or commenting!

using my own handwriting on the front of my card definitely is out of my comfort zone which is a great challenge. Thanks for the challenge Ted! It was fun to play along! And as a bonus I am now all ready for Valentine's day :)

Ted, what an awesome challenge. I commend you for coming up with innovative and fun things to do and for making a challenge a true challenge. (I promise it is my own handwriting-thank you for the compliment!)

Great idea Ted! I'm playing, but can't post until next Thursday. Guess I'll be practicing my handwriting all weekend. See you next week. :)

I would like to try this challenge. Not so sure about my own handwriting, but gulp- will try it.
I am rather new at blogging, I mean I still feel that way. This will be my first blog challenge to enter! I have yet to make a Valentine's card this year, so this challenge will get me started! Your blog is neat!

Oh my gosh you are killing me with this challenge! I was determined to play along with your next HEC since I missed the last one. My own handwriting on the front AND the inside? YIKES! LOL!! Seriously though, this is a wonderful and creative challenge. So glad you thought of this.
